CERN: We get signal

How are you gentlemen. I just finished a nap in the hot afternoon here in Colombo when I checked my email and found out we’re a step closer to discovering the secrets of the universe.

Main screen turn on

Called the God Particle by the media, which is quite the misnomer, the Higgs Boson is alleged to be the missing particle that solves a lot of the underlying problems in physics. And we now have evidence of its existence courtesy of CERN and the Large Hadron Collider. Over at Ars Technica, there’s an article on the details of the discovery.

The intricacies of the science are way above me, but I find the idea that the black hole machine has already produced such an important result fascinating.

Now, time for some ice cream. It’s damn hot.
