What Alpha Inventions is and isn’t

There seems to be a lot of confusion, fascination, excitement and even false hopes surrounding this thing called Alpha Inventions.

First of all, Alpha Inventions isn’t a spam service. You don’t write just anything, post the link, and expect traffic to flow in. Yes, you will get a jump in hits, but that’s only temporary if your content isn’t interesting.

Second, it’s a tool to give you more exposure. But it’s up to you to keep the readers coming back.

It’s not an IM client either. Don’t be all “OMG CHECK OUT THIS SITE!!!” after each and every new post because that will just annoy us users and the creator.

Imagine you’re on a street and someone hands you a flyer. If the show on the flyer is interesting, then you may go and see it. If it’s not, you just throw it away. The same will happen here. The site is the flyer and it’s your (the show’s producer’s) responsibility to maintain the traffic well after your link gets bumped (which, believe it or not, can be within the same hour or even minute). The site is popular so it won’t stand still just for your blog. Don’t expect miracles and don’t be ungrateful.

If you update frequently, Alpha Inventions will definitely add to that. But that doesn’t mean you have to change the way you write or be more “edgy” or any of that nonsense. It just means, be honest with your intentions and write with genuine zeal. No matter how bizarre or bland you think your content may be, chances are someone is interested in the exact same thing. The site will just help you find those connections, but it’s your job to connect.

I hope that clears things up for everyone.

  1. Good job. Lot’s of folks are [understandably]sceptical & cautious about a site that “promises to increase traffic.” AI is simply a PR tool & as you say, it’s up to the blogger to capture the audience.

  2. Believe me, it is ;)

I just made the post because people are jumping around like it’s going to make them e-famous over night or something, and that just isn’t the case. It will bring in some hits for sure, but the rest is in the bloggers’ imagination.

It’s a nice tool to get your foot in the door and let others who normally wouldn’t come across your blog in their daily browsing take a glance.

I.E. Those who don’t usually browse the “Programming” or “Computers” tags.

  3. Glad you passed at the right time. True, true, it was in my mind about being ungrateful. I agree. LOL!

  4. Just clearing things up ;)

There were some threads on the WordPress forums like that too. It started to bug me because these people are getting free hits and they were being exposed to a whole new readership. And I’ve seen concrete proof right here on WordPress that it can permanently increase a blog’s view count. You see many writers mention how they went from low numbers to high numbers overnight and stay at high for months.

Obviously the links on the site expire, so the rest had to be from the new readers.

People sometimes pay for that kind of traffic increases and all they could do is complain.

    Sheesh!

  5. “Paying” for links I am told by those in the know is an extremely bad idea. The links are not genuine, don’t really count, & I’ve heard [altho do not know for certain] that Google frowns upon it which could result in a negatively altered page rank. Who wants that?

I read the WordPress forum that expressed doubt about AI but it seemed as if they really didn’t grasp the concept until Cheru personally commented.

It’s for this reason that I call AI a PR tool. Your blog gets exposure to other bloggers [that it happens in real time is just so much sweeter] but the long-term hope is that there will be people who really get interested in some blogs & become independent followers [& hopefully link to you from their blog in the future or tell their friends about your blog]. AI is just sort of the “midwife.” It is a particularly big help to someone like myself who create posts about useful business information but not necessarily “sexy” or edgy topics like politics or culture. The hotter stuff can catch fire faster.

Like the WordPress dialogue, this piece provides excellent clarification for not only what AI is & isn’t but also provides a sense of realistic expectations.

  6. Thanks!
If all the people who were running around criticising AI would have just taken a few minutes to investigate it themselves, then all this could have been avoided. But some people just jump to conclusions.

  7. Right! I agree. In addition, it will be long way to go when an AI can do the PR like this:
